Tips & Tricks
- When playing Venice, the Bailiwick's "Reeve's Book" function is absolutely essential for maintaining proper ratios. You can even create a toolbar button for the "Reeve's Book." Open this screen often and compare your building counts to the ratios on this page. Make sure all your ratios are correct.
- Often, you will have slight imbalances in your materials, sometimes due to starting up parts of the chain and sometimes due to production differences. You can capitalize on these by using the excess resources when you need to make more chains in the future. Examples:
- If an island has built up an excess of herbs, then the next time you need more beer, make a wheat field and a brewery first... and don't build a matching herb garden until the excess is about gone.
- Maybe you want more beer, but have extra wheat and herbs. Just make a brewery first, and lay in wheat and herbs when the excess is used up.
- Coal and quartz can seem to pile up over time due to slight differences over long periods. No problem... when you start making glasses, send all that stockpiled quartz to it until it's used up. Then kick in a new quartz stream.
- Keep in mind - when planning production chains - the location you would like the production chain to end, considering; if the chain isn't on your main island (where your city is built), should the final product be produced on the production island itself or on your main island? There are advantages and disadvantages for both strategies, displayed in the table below, where: product = product consumed by inhabitants, resources = items needed to create product, production island = island other than island with city, main'''' island = island with city for which production chain is created.
